Meet the Man
Behind the Camera.
I'm Matthew Gibb, the photographer behind Gibby Visuals. My journey started at a car meet, where seeing other photographers work sparked enough curiosity that I bought my first camera almost immediately.
I started with cars, motorcycles, and local meets before pursuing a diploma in Professional Photography and expanding into portraits, sports, pets, real estate, motorsports, and more.
The name Gibby goes back to my baseball days—a nickname pulled from my last name, Gibb, that simply stuck and eventually became part of the business I have today.
Whatever I'm photographing, my goal is simple: capture the moments people remember and the smaller ones they might otherwise miss.
MY APPROACH
Intentional in the Details.
Adaptable in the Moment.
Every shoot starts with observation. I'm looking at the light, environment, atmosphere, and the connection between the subjects in front of me.
I plan the location, timing, and overall direction, but I don't force a shoot into a formula. Light changes, locations change, and sometimes the best composition is one you couldn't have planned.
That continues into post-production. Every photograph I deliver is individually hand-edited, allowing me to build each image around its own vision rather than relying on one preset.
I'd describe my style as natural+—authentic to what was in front of the camera, with the refinement needed to make it stand out.
I'm my own biggest critic, and I'm always looking for the next way to improve.
BEYOND THE CAMERA
Beyond the Camera.
After spending 18 years in Kelowna, I recently made the move to Kamloops and have been discovering a completely new backyard.
Outside photography, you'll usually find me hiking, mountain biking, camping, exploring, paddleboarding, fly fishing, or obsessing over cars and motorcycles. Sports were also a huge part of my life growing up and helped shape the competitive, detail-oriented person I am today.
I'm also a strong supporter of mental-health awareness, particularly men's mental health, and hope to continue supporting that through projects beyond photography.
I'm fairly quiet when you first meet me, but that usually doesn't last long.
Photography is one of the places where everything else quiets down. Behind the camera, I get to create, focus on what's in front of me, and simply be myself.
